Takima Howze is a young woman with alot of spark, spunk and charisma. Takima grew up in the South Bronx of New York City. At the age of 6 she became a product of the system and was placed into foster care and was adopted by a totally new family. Struggling with Self-Identity, Low Self-Esteem, Worth and Value as Takima came into her teen and adolescent years, she made some bad choices in life that had placed her in the most deadly and tragic situations. Soon Takima found herself, homeless, a victim of rape, and a prisoner of guilt shame and worthlessness. However in the midst of this array of adversity Takima knew this was not it for her. Takima soon found herself as a resident of the Chelsea Foyer, A program for young people who have aged out of the foster care system. While there, she became a Corps Member of City Year where she served in the L.I.C community from 2004-2005. Determined to continue this path of positivity Takima then went away to school at SUNY Plattsburgh where she gradudated December 2007 with a BA in Sociology. With the mindset to continue helping and serving others Takima became a Case Manager at BronxWorks Family Shelter. It was there Takima discovered that she had a true passion for teaching and motivating her clients (mostly the young women and mothers) to making lasting change in their lives, through facilitating workshops and helping them achieve their goals on an individual level. In 2009, Takima became a Life Skills Trainer at Harlem United. Working at Harlem United helped Takima truly define her craft and also has helped to shape who she is as a person and Life Coach. Through her own Mentorship with her mentor, Takima is learning that True Testimony starts with You facing your reality. Takima is determined to pass of what she has learned and in continuing to learn to other young women. Takima is a writer, Young Entrepreneur, A Proud Christian and member of Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn NY, A Sister and a true Friend. Takima is also a proud young single mother of a precious little girl. It is because of her daughter that she has the passion to continue to teach and coach other young women to live a life of integrity. As her mentor teaches her "Your coaching starts at home". With that being said Takima strives to be a willing and open vessel to all young women who come behind her. The work in her is not complete, but there is plenty to glean from :)
